To celebrate reaching 100 000 fans, Vodacom wanted to thank its loyal Facebook community. And with the majority of fans using Facebook mobile, we had to think of a clever way to include them in the festivities.
What we did:
Vodacom showed their fans some love by hosting a 10-day prize giveaway on Facebook with phones, t-shirts and airtime up for grabs. To enter, eager fans simply posted a snapshot of themselves giving real-life Facebook ‘Like’ (thumbs up) either via the ‘We Like You’ app or by email (for mobile visitors).
To build hype, we posted regular prize updates and – at random intervals – also rewarded the fastest fingers to respond to a status update.
In 10 days, Vodacom received 2 768 likes and 1 633 comments on 14 competition statuses. Fans responded enthusiastically and the celebration invoked excitement and positive sentiment around the brand online.
